51 is 52-1. Yes, it happened. I am, today, one week away from finishing The 52 Project - my nutty and wonderful promise to myself to write from the heart, pour out from the mysterious and always entertaining brain, and then edit with honesty once again with my wholehearted heart [See Wk 26 for some of the why's].
Some of you knew. You know who you are. Some of you read each and every week, and then messaged me your "hmmmm" post-reading wonderings and observations, and those "Yes, that happened to me also." and all those important types of resonances and empathys and encouragements. They really counted. Those, now and forever at the end of my wild 52 Project journey, I cherish as gold. Thank you immensely.
51 is also my current age. Magical, pretty number. Your Gestalt almost that of an exotic prime number, but...I know - bummer - that you are divisible by 3. Oh, 3. You are lucky that I love you because you are everywhere! From triptychs, to the most holy moments in world religions, to....everything - Pep Boys, Stooges, and Amigos quirkily included.
Yes, I am 51 in all gratefulness and defying any societal ageism. Like my mother instilled in us her children, age is an honor. She would make fun of her ubiquitous wrinkles by the time she reached 80, ¡Ayyy, mis arrugas! Not so close with that camera shot!, but she understood the gift of the every given morning. She lived in lovely grace and gratefulness, until she was 84.
I don't want to go dark here, but if a 28 year old Mr. Hipster Top-Bro-Bun-Sportin' McHipsterton gave me the stink eye for being out somewhere non-age-appropriate for my oh-so-elderly status, I would think to myself: If we both get hit by a bus right now... I have 2 decades+ on you; I win. But that is dark. You know you are delving darkly into thought when you start to remind yourself of a Smiths tune!
